Robert Thomas Cottingham, Jr.

Robert Thomas Cottingham, Jr. is Chairman and CEO of Sabre88, a diversified services firm located in Newark, New Jersey.

Before establishing Sabre88 in 2008, Mr. Cottingham served as Vice President of Government Affairs and Senior Program Manager for Phacil, Inc. a diversified services firm in New Jersey. In this capacity, Robert helped increase the firm’s annual revenue from $600,000 to $25 million. In addition, he expanded the company’s presence in the federal marketplace and established partnerships with key decision makers in the public and private sectors. Previously, Mr. Cottingham served as the District Director for the Honorable Donald M. Payne, Sr.(NJ-10), a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Education and Labor. In that capacity Mr. Cottingham was responsible for all district activities. He developed goals, missions and operating plans for the calendar year and Congressional session. He researched and analyzed issues related to legislation pending before the committees and served as the liaison between the Congressman, federal agencies, constituents and lobbyists. He was responsible for intergovernmental operations and further assisted the Congressman in defining the vision for the district and resetting office priorities as circumstances demanded it.

Robert was a member of the 1988 and 1992 United States Olympic fencing teams, which competed in Seoul, Korea and Barcelona, Spain respectively. He was also the 1990 United States National Sabre Champion and the 1988 NCAA individual Sabre champion. Robert is a four-time All American and All-Ivy fencer and was captain of two of Columbia’s NCAA championship teams in 1987 and 1988.

Robert is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Peter Westbrook Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of New York City’s youth through the sport of fencing. In the summer of 2008 two of the Foundation’s students won silver medals at the Games in Beijing.

Robert is a Graduate of the Rutgers School of Law, and received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College of Columbia University in The City of New York in 1988.
